Author’s Notes

I’m super proud of the way this turned out (and how quickly!)  Many, many, many thanks to my amazing and ultra-mega hard workin’, ass bustin, whip crackin’ editor and friend, Erin Sweet Al-Mehairi. This would never have happened without you.

Here are a few pieces of the early reviews for SLUSH….

“Rolfe crafts a mesmerizing and realistic set of tales that will haunt, scare, buoy you with joy, and take you back to a simpler time when life was yet to kick you in the balls…this collection is essential reading for any horror fan.”-  Stuart Keane Author of All or Nothing and Charlotte

“… It’s rooted in mythos, has a very well developed plot and characters that kind of remind me of Stand by Me (or The Body if you like)…”- Top of the Heap Reviews  on “Skull of Snakes”

“…you’ll be holding 126 pages of why you became a fan of Horror in the first place…a perfect companion to these increasingly dark, cold and autumn nights.”- Mouths of Madness podcast

“… beautiful and horrible and beautiful and grisly and beautiful…Chilling and raw.”- Mercedes M. Yardley Author of Pretty Little Dead Girls and Nameless: The Darkness Comes  on “Sweet 16”

JOURNALS of HORROR: Found Fiction

From Wikipedia.org: Found footage is a genre of film making, especially horror, in which all or a substantial part of a film is presented as discovered film or video recordings, often left behind by missing or dead protagonists.

Terry M. West and Pleasant Storm Entertainment, Inc. present a revolutionary approach to the horror fiction anthology. JOURNALS OF HORROR: Found Fiction is a collection of terror inspired by the mechanics of the found footage horror film. In JOURNALS OF HORROR, the stories presented are horrific encounters committed to paper, item or device and discovered later. Each tale is a case file that has been transcribed from some type of unearthed diary. These tales can be discovered anywhere.

Next up:

My debut with Samhain Horror…my novella:

ABRAM’S BRIDGE

There is a darkness in this town, and it’s buried beneath Abram’s Bridge.

When Lil Ron meets Sweet Kate under Abram’s Bridge he is mesmerized. And when he realizes this beautiful girl is a ghost, it frightens him, but also draws him to her. Curiosity and a drive to make things right lead Lil Ron into a tangle of small-town secrets involving his own father and other members of this otherwise quiet community. Bit by bit, he will uncover the truth about Sweet Kate, a story of heartbreak, violence…and fear.

NEW (or newish) RELEASES in the WORLD of HORROR!

Being that October is the most socially acceptable time for horror literature, when the seductive veil we refer to as Dark Fiction is peeled back like flesh from the victims in our imaginary realms,  and many of our throng love to unleash our latest  keep-the-reader-up-all-night goods, I wanted to highlight a few that have caught my (evil) eye.

OCTOBER VALENTINES! MY LOVABLE HALLOWEEN READING LIST.

OCTOBER.

OCTO OCTO

Such a wonderful month here in Maine. Summer is slipping away taking with it the limited amount of warm sunshine allotted to us northeasterners.  The leaves on the trees morph from green to various shades of fire before letting go and giving in to the upcoming dead season. The cooler days and nights are perfect for a nice Samuel Adams Octoberfest, or Shipyard Pumkinhead Ale.  And of course…there’s Halloween and all the wonderful dark delights most of us horror authors love most. It’s the season of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Exorcist, Halloween, Friday the 13th. The season of Danzig, the Misfits, Type O Negative, and Alkaline Trio. The season of reading, (or re-reading) some of the top horror novels out there. I usually like to read ‘Salem’s Lot (which I read last October for the 4th time) or another one of King’s classics, but this year I’m changing it up.

I‘ve seen a few cool October Reading Lists out there; I thought I’d share my own. So here we go!

THE HALLOWEEN MAN– Douglas Clegg

DOUG

DARK HARVEST-Norman Partridge

NORM

SUMMER of NIGHT– Dan Simmons

DAN

THE HALLOWEEN TREE by Ray Bradbury

RAY RAY

DECEMBER PARK by Ronald Malfi
